Proposal 50 : Add ‘Men’ to the five designated groups in the Act respecting Equal Access to Employment in Public Bodies.

Add ‘Men’ to the five designated groups in the Act respecting Equal Access to Employment in Public Bodies.

Men were not included as a group in this anti-discrimination act because they were not being discriminated against when it was passed (men were in the majority everywhere). Because men are not a designated group under the Act, we cannot verify whether they are underrepresented or compare their numbers with the numbers of male candidates available, yet in reality men are now a minority in several employment categories.

This Act therefore contains a flaw that leads to discrimination whereas it should prevent discrimination. Men are discriminated against because they are absent from the Act.
