Proposal 8 : Privatize the casinos run by Loto-Québec.

Privatize the casinos run by Loto-Québec.

Québec is the only place in the world where casinos run deficits. Bad internal management is believed to be the cause. It would probably be more cost-effective for the government to tax the profits.

Proposal 6 : Let the rest of Canada bid on projects for public works and road upgrading.

Let the rest of Canada bid on projects for public works and road upgrading.

Given the findings of investigative reports made public in 2012, which show we are paying up to 30% more than the rest of Canada, this approach aims to reduce construction costs by forcing businesses and unions to be competitive.

Proposal 5 : Stop installing signs that show the cost of government-funded public works.

Stop installing signs that show the cost of government-funded public works.

With over 1,300 construction sites, at a cost of nearly $10,000 per construction site, a total of $10-13 million is being needlessly wasted.

Proposal 4 : Stop government advertising that seeks to drum up support for the government’s positions and justify its policies.

Stop government advertising that seeks to drum up support for the government’s positions and justify its policies.

On the other hand, advertising will still be permitted for educational aims.

Proposal 3 : Downsize the civil service by reviewing, with the assistance of the auditor general of Québec.

Downsize the civil service by reviewing, with the assistance of the auditor general of Québec, the purpose of each government department, body, and program, and retain only the necessary ones.

Many services have been created in response to one-time-only problems or political orders. The reason no longer exists, but the service remains. In addition, work methods have evolved and fewer people are needed for certain tasks.

Proposals under investigation

The following proposals form the draft program of Équipe autonomiste, which is intended to be a democratic party.

The party will set up riding-based or regional political forums in order to enable all of its members, and no longer just those who can attend the conventions, to address its policy statements.

Thus, the following proposals have been drawn up for such forums.

Please note that the party leader acts as a spokesperson rather than as an executive officer.
