Proposal 56 : Make 16- and 17-year-olds pay the full rate for traffic violations.

Make 16- and 17-year-olds pay the full rate for traffic violations.

Currently, they pay only a maximum of $125. For example, if exceeding the speed limit costs an adult $900, it costs a minor only $125. This measure would make teenagers more responsible for their actions, as well as the parents who signed so that they could drive.

Proposal 41 : Give the auditor general of Québec the same powers as a commission of enquiry to investigate spending by the government, by publicly owned corporations, and by parapublic organizations.

Give the auditor general of Québec the same powers as a commission of enquiry to investigate spending by the government, by publicly owned corporations, and by parapublic organizations.

Instead of creating commissions of enquiry, ethics committees, etc., it is proposed that the auditor general of Québec be given powers to investigate and prosecute, and not only to make recommendations. An investigation unit, like the permanent anti-corruption unit, would be integrated into the auditor general’s office.

Proposal 38 : Recognize the limits of multiculturalism.

Recognize the limits of multiculturalism and affirm our identity in the face of exaggerated demands made in the name of personal convictions (“reasonable” accommodations) that encroach on our individual freedoms.

Québec is a society where individual freedom is a basic value. We can have practices that correspond to our values and personal convictions, on the following conditions: the practice must comply with established laws; it must not interfere with the freedoms of other citizens; no one must force others to comply with it.
